Recruitment

In just a few weeks we will be heading up for our 9th annual camping trip in Idyllwild. It will be the 19th-21st of October. We are throwing an invitation out to all of you, we would love it if anyone would like to join us. It is always a good time away from the city. There are lots of shops to look through, great pizza, camp fires, games and much more. Let us know if you are interested or if you have any questions.

The vote is in.......*

Barry Bond's homerun ball #756 will go to the Hall of Fame with a giant * branded on it.  I actually voted for it to go to the hall as-is.

Cousins (not) Identical Cousins...they look alike, talk alike & sometimes even walk alike

Friday Night the lights were on at Valhalla H.S. My cousin was on the opposing team the Sultana Sultans. My mom and I were able to make it out for Josh's game, it was a very nice evening. I am sorry that Josh's team didn't fair very well, but we will get to see him play again in two weeks when he has another game down in SD. One thing worth notable mention is that Greg Louganis an Olympic gold medalist in diving was being honored at the Valhalla game as he is an alumni of the school.

The entire front page of my blog has been updated, there are many many new posts. Feel free to take a gander.

Biola's Dodger Day

On Sunday the 16th Paul and I headed out to the Dodger game with Jeric. It was so HOT! (I am still peeling from the sunburn) We sat in the all you can eat section with hundreds of other Biola students, staff, and alumni. Highlights: the new president threw out the first pitch to his son, there was a crazy man who jumped onto the field in a straight jacket and got pretty far around the field before being tackled to the ground(the thirdbasemen thought it was pretty funny), and hanging out with Jeric is always a good time.

Why our blogging has been slow...

We got new computers

For some reason this song was all over 2 of my radio stations this weekend. Yeah, you're rocking out too.

Cyndi's day by Cyndi

Got up when there was a 6 on the clock, got showered and dressed. Made my lunch and headed off to work. Taught classes, had picture day. I was about to put up the CA content standards that are to be posted in our rooms, which I had copied at Kinko's last night when I realized that what I wanted, and what I paid an absurd amount of money for were two very different things.

So, back to Kinko's I went afraid that they would look at me and say tough luck. Instead a very nice and helpful guy named Matt said "Gosh, I dont know how ______ messed this up. It is very easy to fix. I will take care of it no charge and we will credit you back for the money you paid for the other copies." I was so relieved, I did not have the kind a moola that was originally spent while I was not paying attention. And I will still have my standards up on my wall before the Super-nintendo comes through tomorrow at Open House. Kinko's gets a thumbs up.

On my way home I drive by the church Paul and I were married at is no longer FBC of La Mirada it is now Redeemer Church, and a lot has changed outside including the sign I have been driving by for the last 10 yrs. of my life. It caught me very off gaurd.

Now I go, to lesson plan, catch up on e-mail and watch me some Gossip Girls

Tragedy

Earlier this week a student from the school I work at and was in my 6th period class underwent a family tragedy. Her step-father took the life of her mother and then tried to take his own life. Here is the full story.

This was a sweet 14 yr. old girl who's life has been turned upside down. I am unsure if she has family to live with, but if she doesn't she will be most likely put in the system.

Please pray for the family and students who were touched by this event. We did have grief counselors on campus today for any students who needed it.

Is that all?

You Are Running on 82% Adrenaline

Your Adrenaline Level: Very Dangerous

Life is passing you by so quickly, you hardly can notice what's going on.
You definitely need to slow down before you crash hard!

Oddity from our DC trip....

One day while we were in Union Station, I saw a woman walking with her son, who was about 5 years old.  The mom was rather ghetto and had her son dressed up with with a green hat (sideways over a du-rag), green sneakers, and this guy's jersey.

Now riddle me this, Batman:

1.  Who would wear that jersey at all, let alone in 2007?

and

2.  Why are they making those in kids sizes?

What I've Learned

This past week began the new school year. I am once again teaching those students which no other teacher wants to deal with. Some things have changed this year such as the time I go in,and how many hours my little darlings are at school. I also have an elective class of regular 8th graders. That should be interesting. My day seems to go by much faster so far. I have not gotten my prep period for the last two days though because it is an administrators job and they have been busy doing other things. I hope that this changes soon. Next week will start with all the book work, and the homework. It is going to be a trying year, I have two repeats from last year and already talking to the kids I know it will be an up hill battle.

Now to get to what I have learned
1)All white people are racists
2)All white people are rich
3)There is no reason to learn because we could die tomorrow, so just have fun

I am sure throughout the year I will get many more pearls of wisdom. The girl in my classes greatest aspiration is to work at a McDonald's. When everything is boring no matter how much I tap dance up there, and try to reach them I am at a loss as to what to do. And this is only the beginning. I just pray that I can reach some of them.

Love Love Love this song (Mandy Moore version)

[VERSE 1]
You had my heart
and we'll never be world apart
Maybe in magazines
but you'll still be my star
Baby cause in the Dark
You can see shiny Cars
And that's when you need me there
With you I'll always share
Because

[CHORUS]
When the sun shines
We’ll shine together
Told you I'll be here forever
Said I'll always be your friend
Took an oath
I'mma stick it out 'till the end
Now that it's raining more than ever
Know that we still have each other
You can stand under my Umbrella
You can stand under my Umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)

[VERSE 2]
These fancy things,
will never come in between
You're part of my entity
Here for Infinity
When the war has took it's part
When the world has dealt it's cards
If the hand is hard
[Umbrella lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]

Together we'll mend your heart
Because ...

[CHORUS]
When the sun shines
We'll shine together
Told you I'll be here forever
Said I'll always be your friend
Took an oath
I'mma stick it out 'till the end
Now that it's raining more than ever
Know that we still have each other
You can stand under my Umbrella
You can stand under my Umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)

[BRIDGE]
You can run into my Arms
It's okay don't be alarmed
(Come into Me)
(There's no distance in between our love)
So Gonna let the rain pour
I'll be all you need and more
Because ...

[CHORUS]
When the sun shines
We'll shine Together
Told you I'll be here forever
Said I'll always be your friend
Took an oath
I'mma stick it out 'till the end
Now that it's raining more than ever
Know that we still have each other
You can stand under my Umbrella
You can stand under my Umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)

It's raining (raining)
Ooo baby it's raining
baby come into me
Come into me
It's raining (raining)
Ooo baby it's raining
You can always come into me
Come into me

Who knew?

tk and i met a long time ago back in the 6th grade, 16 years :) and have been through a lot together. spending this week with her and the fam has been wonderful. i had some (for lack of being able to think of another word) incredible conversations with Dad and Mom, as well as hearing so many war stories from Papa Tex and conversing with Wanda. i have loved this family like my own for so long i didnt think it was possible to love them any more, but after this trip, i do. they are such an incredible group of people. one might think being the only non-blood relation around that it might be awkward or you would feel out of place but not with this family they all welcomed me with open arms (even the ones i just met yesterday). congratulations on beginning the next path of your life Dad and i love you all.

C's trip day 7: I'm leaving on a jet plane

we checked out of the hotel around 930 this morning and headed over to breakfast with the fam, all 23 of us at a restaurant called The Delictable Egg. after breakfast we split up into those who wanted to go to the house, a hotel or to the scrapbook store (i was in the last group). we all hung out for awhile at the place we choose.

then TK and I headed over to the house for a few hours before we had to leave for the airport at 3 pm. TK took a short nap while I took a walk, read some of my book and looked through scrapbooks.

it was time to say my goodbyes, but the parents were no where to be seen. so i said goodbye to grandpa, and the aunts and uncles that were there as well as R and the kids. TK and I got in the truck about to leave when the parents showed up. i quickly got out of the truck and went to give hugs and say bye. i was quickly told i would have been in big trouble by Dad if we had left without saying goodbye.

after all of that it was time to get me to the airport. we had a nice drive and i only started to tear up once. i hate goodbyes and saying goodbye to the entire clan let alone TK was hard.

we got me to the airport and checked my bags curbside, all i had to do was head into security and over to the gate but before i made it to security i had to make a detour to find a tissue because i couldn't keep my emotions in check. at least i didnt do it in front of TK.

once in the airport i got a bite to eat , managed to forget my ticket at the food place. then managed to lose it between the food place, restroom and the gate. had to retrace my steps and finally found it about 10 min. before boarding.

my MIL and SIL came to pick me up from the airport and quickly asked why i was wearing a sweatshirt and said i sure as heck would want it off before i left the building. as TK knows i use to and still do wear sweatshirts occasionally as a comfort item, a sort of security blanket.

C's trip day 6: Celebrate

today was dad's retirement ceremony, party and dinner. i am not even a blood relation and i teared up (shhh don't tell TK). it was just such an incredible day and i was blessed to be included in it. Papa Tex spoke followed by the three girls (TK, R and Mom). then Dad made his speech.

all of the speeches were followed by Dad giving each of the girls something as well as KT, Brian, Wanda and Grandpa (i think thats everyone). TK then presented Dad with the scrapbook the girls were working on and his face was too funny when he saw it. then Dad and Mom went "ashore" for the last time and walked off the stage as Dad's brother rang the bell.

everyone then hung out, talked and had some refreshments. after packing everything up we took the tables to the house and headed back to the hotel for a nap. an hour later we got up changed and headed back to the house for the dinner and party portion of the evening. the kids were so darn cute, they had made up a list of games they wanted to play while the whole family was over after the ceremony. there was a spelling bee, musical chairs, the "navy game" and a sponge race. i only got photos of musical chairs and the "navy game" as i couldnt take pictures and concentrate on getting water into a cup during the sponge race.

after the games the family just had a good time sitting and talking with each other, looking through scrapbooks and discussing the military men in the family.
