Its almost that time

My mom picked Curly up on her way to Whittier. We are going to drive down to Bobby McGee's and drop off the cake then grab a bite to eat. Not long after that I will need to get ready and head over to Biola. I am supposed to be there at 3:45pm for rehearsal. After rehearsal I suppose I will be standing around for awhile waiting for the MAIN EVENT to start. Graduation starts at 6pm followed by a great dinner with family and friends. I am nervous I have never worn a hoodie before and if Dr. Sibold is the one putting it over my shoulders she is a bit shorter than I am so it could be very interesting. After dinner who knows what the evening holds possibly working out at the track again since I had to cut my work out short this morning. I am looking forward to seeing everyone in a few hours. Wahooo!

Aahh Workout

After I let my dinner settle I headed out for the BU fitness center at 11:30 only to find out it was closed early due to staffing problems so I settled for the new track. I walked 3 miles followed by 10- 60m sprints and walked 10- 60m. After that I stretched and did 125 situps. I figured it was getting late so I headed home. I worked out for about an hour and a half. Anyways I need to get to bed. Goodnight.

mmmmm steak

Well the first of the family has arrived. My dad flew in to John Wayne this afternoon from Atlanta Georgia. Once Paul got home from work my dad drove over from Norgetto where his hotel is and we went out to eat dinner at Outback. The food was great chicken and ribs my kinda meal. It was good to catch up with my dad since I havent seen him since my last graduation. We enjoyed the time together even though he was eating at around 11pm Eastern time. Good food and good times. =)

MA Dinner

On Wednesday Paul attended the MA dinner for Education with me. There are 33 people recieving their MA's on Friday from the department. All of the professors spoke and one student from each capstone path were honored for their superb work. Dinner was delicious. The night was really whelming. There were two class speakers one who was moved to tears. A really wonderful night. One to remember and scrapbook of course. =)

RANT

Graduation is coming up this Friday and it is frustrating me that Biola has it on a "work day". So many of my family and friends cannot come down because they have to work on Friday! I dont understand why they are having it on Memorial Day Weekend either. Such a bad combo. It makes me angry to not be able to have all of my friends and family around to celebrate my finaly graduation. Dont get me wrong I am so excited for the day to come and I am so glad to be able to have those who are able to come with me I just wish Biola had choosen more wisely! Oh well it will be great to see Amanda and Bill, Moe and Nick, Ric and Jeri, my mom and dad, curly, pauls family etc. Wahoo. I cant believe it is already the week of. =)

Adding to the collection

On Monday I turned in all my textbooks I will no longer need and today I decided to use that money to buy some new DVD's. I purchased The Ladykillers featuring Tom Hanks. I,Robot with Will Smith, Collateral staring Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx and finally The Notebook which is both a great book and a good movie.

SMOG

Well I finally took a day off to go get my car smogged so that I wont get pulled over like other people I know for not having the correct tags on my car. It took only 15min and I got a discount for having AAA which was cool. After that it was off to Costco and AAA to finish out my earands for the day. When paul gets home it will be off to the gym to work out! wahoo.

BBQ and Rushmore

Paul and I had some friends over tonight for a BBQ. The steaks were great and so was the corn. I cannot speak for the "german potato salad" because I didnt try any (it had chunks of onion in it) most of you know if I can detect the onion theres no way its going in my mouth. After dinner we watched Rushmore no one else had ever seen it before execpt us. And for dessert there were brownies all around. It was a fun night and good to see Amanda again, it had been awhile. Good times, Good friends!

Feel the burn!

On Thursday I went over to Biola and signed up for a weight room pass. Seeing my drivers license lately reminded me that I'm 85 pounds over what I weighed in high school. I haven't gained any more weight in a while, but it's not coming off either. I know the problem is that I need real physical activity on a regular basis. I got a good workout on Thursday, a little sore, but not too bad. I'm all set to go today too and hopefully can stay motivated to keep going. If I stay this way for much longer or gain any more, I'm guaranteed some serious health problems.

At noonthirty I left to go pick up our friend Charlie from LAX on her way back from a 15 day trip to Germany and surrounding areas. I was informed she has 10 rolls of film. I am preparing myself to look at that many photos. =) Im glad shes back safe and sound after a nice adventure. Welcome Home Charlie!

The Freaks Come Out At Night

And in Hollywood all day long. Today Paul and I drove out to Hollywood to walk around and look at some shops. I love to people watch and Hollywood is a perfect place to do that. One of the highlights was seeing all the Star Wars geeks waiting in line at the wrong theatre. I have never seen anything like it. They had camping tents set up, vans fully loaded, BBQ's. The best part were the ones who had laptops playing Star Wars trailers, games and watching all the old episodes. It was amusing to say the least. Some were dressed in costumes. It was a good day. We walked up and down the blocks, looked at the stars on the sidewalk. While walking down the street we saw a Storm Trooper, Darth, Lucy, Jeanie, Jack Sparrow, Fiona and Puss (from Shrek)Anyways it was good times and a beautiful day.

After Hollywood we drove toward Pasadena and decided to have dinner with the family. Mair, Papa, Jean, Mom, Dad, and Amy. We went to 2ee's for some good eats and conversation. Papa is doing better after recently being in the hospital for an operation. We hope he continues to feel better.

Oh, yeah...now I remember

Last night I was reminded of why this blog died so quickly after it was started 3 years ago. I was trying to add on features and fix it up real purty like, but half of the things I try and add either show up for a while and then disappear or won't show up at all. I suppose it would help if I could write html, but most of the time it's just a matter of reading directions and pasting code into the template.

Frosty Finger Fun

According to the Offical Wendys Website this coming weekend is Free Frosty Weekend. All you have to do is go in and say Free Frosty and you get a Jr. Frosty. Sweet! And all of this because one lady plants a finger in her Chili to win a lawsuit.

Bobby McGees

My mom spent Sunday night at our apartment and we went out to eat a yummy breakfast at IHOP this morning and then shopping during the morning. Once Bobby McGees in Brea opened we finalized my graduation party reservations for May 27th after graduation at Biola. Wahoo! I am excited for the day to come.

Disneyland

Today my mom drove up for Mothers Day and my uncle Bill's 50th birthday. The Barbatoe's drove down from Victorville and they met up with my mom and I and Bill and Marie at ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney for a fantastic lunch. After Paul got off of work he met my mom and I in the front of Disneyland and we met up with Bill and Marie and visited and rode rides for the entire afternoon and evening. The longest wait we had all day was for Indiana at 40min.

My new favorite ride at D-land since they took out Millionaire at DCA is the Buzz Lightyear interactive ride. Blast off to "infinity and beyond" as you join Buzz Lightyear* in an interactive and intergalactic battle against the Evil Emperor Zurg. The fate of the universe is in your hands as you pilot your Star Cruiser through the treacherous terrain while zapping enemy targets and racking up points. Spin your Star Cruisers 360 degrees while you fire moveable, hand-held laser cannons. Blast enemy targets and amass points, then compare your high-score with other Space Rangers or go for a personal best. Climb up the Space Ranger ranks as your scores soar to astronomical heights each time you play. Save the galaxy, then e-mail your Astro Blaster score home and wow your friends and family. Join the battle online and team up with a Guest playing live in Disneyland® park.

I didn't know until the end that they take your picture during the ride where they have terminals set up so you can email yourself your photo of the ride and your score. If you click on the title of this post you can see my beautiful photo. =P Type in the code: 3A540E81B45F100730B37220695ADBCC When the Disnyland link loads.

Magic Mountain

Today Curly and I went to MM. I haven't been since 1998 before I left for college. We decided to buy annual passes so we can go anytime we want. It was a great day. We hung out, ate frozen lemonade and rode the coasters. It is tradition to ride Viper as soon as you get in the park so that was our first stop. Followed by "X", Superman, Riddlers Revenge then we walked right on Tidal Wave and Granny Gran Prix. "X" is my new favorite ride I could have stayed on it all day and not gotten bored. I am psyched to ride it again. Maybe next weekend, who knows. =)

I should make this a different post but we went to the Block after we got back from MM. We ate at Johnny Rockets and got our entire meal COMPT. Apparently since it took over 15min. to make it was freeeee. We even recieved a second order of fries and drinks in to go cups. Then Ang and I walked over to the AMC30 and saw A Lot Like Love. It was good, a bit of nudity but a cute love story.

Tough Break

Well Thursday brought the end of the Hutchins Survivor season. The Fords, Askews and ourselves compete in a Survivor Pool, we randomly draw names at the beginning of the season. Survivor Palau was not kind to us. It makes for an anti-climatic end to the season because I am not personally invested in any of the players. Gregg was our last hope now the race is on Mark has Tom and Ian left, Nick has Katie and Moe has Jennifer and Caryn who I am suprised is still around.

And for my next trick...

A while back we got an algae eater fish for our tank. It's only a 10 gallon tank so we figured this 1 inch tiny fish could do the job. Apparently our tank is good eating because he quickly got to be about 7 inches long and takes up a ton of space. He bullies the other fish around too.

I guess he finally had enough and wanted to move onto bigger and better things because this morning he somehow escaped from his tank. It has a lid on it, so we don't know how he got out, but there he was rolling around on the carpet. The tank lid was still on and the edges were dry so we can't figure it out. Of course his name is officially Houdini now.

The fun never ends.

Woo hoo! After 4 months they finally hired an overnight staff for me as well as 1 of the 2 day staff I need. Both of the new hires have plenty of experience in probation, but are just looking for jobs closer to home and with better pay. I've been able to cover all the shifts without having to beg for help from our main campus for all this time, but it was going to get bad this week when the second day staff leaves. All our other group homes have been freaking out about being down 1 staff so it's making me look better and better for handling things on my own.

My house hasn't had any major problems for a while. That either means I have a great staff who is keeping the boys on their toes or the kids are getting better at hiding things. I keep hearing rumors of things, but so far none of the stories have turned out to be anything. It comes and goes in these probation houses so I know our time will come around again at some point. Hopefully it won't be anything as bad as the house whose kids went AWOL and stole their van or the one with the 2 AWOLS who came back high on crystal meth. Good times.
