The Birds

I traveled to Jeans house one day in mid-December to decorate cookies for Christmas. At the end of her street are some sports fields that are part of a school where I saw...
LOUD! SWARMING! BIRDS!

Getting in the spirit...

Last year I could not get into Christmas music. Even when it actually was Christmas. This year is the opposite. I've been listening to it off and on for a week or so thanks to a local radio station that plays it 24/7. Now iTunes has been playing it all day as well. I've been looking for new songs to add to the mix. Bob Dylan's new Christmas cd? Unlistenable. Mormon Tabernacle Choir? Bad theology, good singing. Barenaked Ladies featuring Anne Murray? Surprisingly good. Any suggestions for really good ones?

In related news, our only mail today was a Turner's holiday catalog. It was addressed to a former resident of this apartment "or current resident" so we kept it. What does Turner's sell you may ask? Weapons! What better way to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior than with a discounted .38 Special or an M4 Tactical 12 gauge shotgun. The Maxim Tactical folding knife claims to be a perfect stocking stuffer. If we want to do our part to help battle breast cancer while controlling the deer population there is a whole collection of pink weapons available. Cyndi wants the pink taser, but it's a bit pricey. For that price you could get two pink .22 rifles ("This ones made especially for your little girl!"). Don't worry, I'll be careful. If you get a present from me this year I'll make sure it's unloaded before I sent it.

So soon?

Apparently Christmas came and went, and we missed it.  Someone in our apartment complex threw out their tree last night.  Seems like kind of a waste to buy a big tree only to get rid of it on December 14.

Question: What do Jasper, Alabama and Al-Manamah, Bahrain have in common?

Answer:  Their love of John Krasinski from The Office!

Seriously, check out our site meter at the bottom of the blog.  When we posted those pics from the Kings game the other night, apparently the only other blog to have similar pics was Perez Hilton.  Some celebrity blogs found our pics and linked to them, so now we've been getting all kinds of people checking us out.  We usually average 16 hits a day.  The past 2 days we've had over 500....most from the johnkrasinski.net site.  I'm starting to see why there are so many paparazzi out there.  I had no idea so many people out there are obsessed with celebrity pics.  Maybe this could be a new career option for me.  I like taking pictures.  How hard could it be to learn how to stalk people?

What the deuce?!

I had an interesting drive home from work tonight.  It produced 2 blog worthy stories in the span of 40 minutes.

#1 -- I was driving in Highland Park to get on the freeway.  The car that was a bit in front of me hit the brakes and then took off fast.  The area is dark so it was hard to see what was going on, but then I saw some guy in the middle of the street throw something at the car.  As I drove by he was struggling to pull something out of the backpack he was holding.  I sped up at that point though not fast enough because as I passed, something hit my car.  I kept going and saw the guy swing his backpack to hit the car behind me.  Good times.

#2 -- I keep going and get off the 5 at Imperial Hwy.  I had to stop at a light in Norwalk (right before the bridge for the transportation center for those who know the area).  As I'm waiting at the light a 50-ish black guy comes out of the transportation center driveway and starts crossing the street in front of me.  When he got in front of my car he stopped and stared at me.  I didn't make eye contact, but noticed that his eyes were all over the place.  He started to walk up to my window so I figured he was going to ask for money.  Wrong.  He decided instead to jump up on the hood of my car.  What the.....?  Then he squatted down and looked in through the window (eyes still all over the place).  He then jumped off and kept walking across the street.

And here I thought I left all the crazies back at work.

Oddity from our DC trip....

One day while we were in Union Station, I saw a woman walking with her son, who was about 5 years old.  The mom was rather ghetto and had her son dressed up with with a green hat (sideways over a du-rag), green sneakers, and this guy's jersey.

Now riddle me this, Batman:

1.  Who would wear that jersey at all, let alone in 2007?

and

2.  Why are they making those in kids sizes?

Since we were listing bad songs....

...here's Alanis Morrisette singing Fergie's "My Humps". Yes, it's as bad as you think. No, you can't look away.

Trivia time: What song is the title of this post from, and who is it by?

Odd

I don't know what happened, but if you do the scratcher thingie in our sidebar all of our pictures are gone. Now it switches off two pictures of some black girl standing around. I went to our account to see if I could figure it out, but it said we had never created a photo/slide show with them. Cyndi said she'll try and do something with it tomorrow since she is the one who set it all up.

Cyndi came home sick today from work. She has a milder version of what I had over Christmas that she picked up from one of her kindergarteners. She was able to eat a little by late evening so we'll see what happens. She's been taking meds, drinking water, and getting lots of sleep today.

I'm just saying...

If you live in Alhambra or Monterey Park these directions would actually seem reasonable.
