Woo! 5 posts in one day!

I've been told our blog is boring lately. I don't know if that's any better than laziness, but it puts less of the blame on me so I'll take it.

I'm really irritated with the World Poker Tour right now. Someone thought it would be a good idea to do their big tournament as usual this year (going on now actually) with one twist. The main event, the one event anyone cares about, is going to take 4 months to finish. Once they get down to the 9 players for the final table, everything is going to shut down and be finished in mid November. I'm guessing it's so they can edit the footage of the rest of the tournament and show it later with the final table being live. However, it's not like we won't know who makes the final table. They might as well just do the live event when it happens, and show the rest of the action later. Part of the excitement of the tournament is that these guys are playing from early morning to well past midnight every day and have to battle fatigue to keep a sharp mind and play smart poker.

We're still here...

Our last post was #900 for this blog, and also marked 150 days straight of posting. This last week we were busy and not home much, so our streak ended there. We decided to take the rest of March off and start back up for April. It's late and I have to be up at 5am again, so I'm not going to post anything real good right now. I will tease you with some of our upcoming topics including our place in baseball history and my near death experience this week. Stay tuned!

Blog Record!

Last week we broke our record for most consecutive days blogging. This post marks 100 straight days of new blogs. We've struggled at times, but I think we'll be able to keep going for a while. I am curious though: Does us posting regularly encourage you to check in more often, or doesn't it matter? Is there anything you'd like to see more or less of? We want to have a good mix between journaling our lives and giving you some entertainment for the day. Sometimes both in the same post. Go ahead and let us know. If this blog sucks you can always comment anonymously. =)

It's that time again...

Get your keyboards warmed up.  November is NaBloPoMo or National Blog Posting Month.  Once again your mission if you choose to accept it, is to agree to post at least once a day, every day, in the month of November.  You don't even have to do real posts.  Even posting a picture or video counts.  Last year we were able to keep going for several months and really had fun with it.  Many of you kept up with the posting too.  So if your blog has been lagging lately, this is your chance to turn it around.  You can even sign up at NaBloPoMo to try and get some new readers and win prizes.  Who's with us?

Finally!

It only took 30,111 vistors to our blog, but we finally have had a hit from each of the 50 states.  We've been stuck on 49 for over a year and a half.  Brad and I were wondering who would visit first:  North Korea or West Virginia.  Tough call since I didn't think anyone in either place had a computer.  I was proven wrong today though.  Apparently the intertubes have reached WV.  Congrats guys!

Of course their visit was made possible by johnkrasinski.net, who have now sent about 750 people to our blog this week.

Question: What do Jasper, Alabama and Al-Manamah, Bahrain have in common?

Answer:  Their love of John Krasinski from The Office!

Seriously, check out our site meter at the bottom of the blog.  When we posted those pics from the Kings game the other night, apparently the only other blog to have similar pics was Perez Hilton.  Some celebrity blogs found our pics and linked to them, so now we've been getting all kinds of people checking us out.  We usually average 16 hits a day.  The past 2 days we've had over 500....most from the johnkrasinski.net site.  I'm starting to see why there are so many paparazzi out there.  I had no idea so many people out there are obsessed with celebrity pics.  Maybe this could be a new career option for me.  I like taking pictures.  How hard could it be to learn how to stalk people?

Tonight

Eatin good - I made myself a salad, corn and a steak for dinner.

Revived - For the first time in two months I posted on my other blog. If you have forgotten about it you can click on the Cyndi link under family on the sidebar.

TV - Knowing what I already know before watching Crossing Jordan... I am not going to like how it ends. Bones was good and OTH was decent although I am a bit angry that the season is now over after making me wait so long for the last few episodes.

Trivia time: What song is the title of this post from, and who is it by?

#500

After the horrid start this blog had, we've finally made it to 500 posts. The first 3 years were rough...we only posted 8 times (and 2 of those were posted by Brad). The original idea for starting it was to make it a place for extended family, cousins, etc. to keep in touch. That didn't happen and we didn't bother updating it to help get things going.

In 2005 we really picked it up and did even better in 2006. Up until a few days ago, we even had a streak of posting at least once a day for over 3 months. I even woke up in the middle of the night and asked Cyndi if we had blogged that day. The answer was "no" with an irritated sigh added on.

Anywho, thank you to everyone who reads this blog and keeps us inspired to keep posting. We continue to have fun with it as well as with keeping up with everyone else's blogs. Now, since I'm a geek, here is our blog by the number:

First blog: December 24, 2002
5ooth blog: February 2, 2007
Number of comments: 721
Number of states visiting: 38 (plus D.C.)
Number of countries visiting: 24

Welcome!

We've been getting a lot of hits from out of state in the last few days. Why now? I don't know. Someone in or around Farmington, Michigan has especially taken an interest having come to our blog about 10 times in the last few days. So whoever you are, welcome and feel free to post and let us know who you are. We don't bite....much.

So excited!

On our blogger dashboard today it finally said we can switch over to the Beta version. This means we have to have a google account, but I already do for my Memory/HighLow blog. There is a catch however, this would switch both the P&C blog and the Survivor blog. I do not know if that would screw everyone else up since I tried setting up a Beta blog to begin with for Survivor. What do I do? I have waited for this moment for so long... you don't even know!

Alive

we thought our froggie was a gonner. but i saw him yesterday! yea.

It was a massacre I tell ya....

Cyndi went to the pet store yesterday to get a feeder for our fish while we're gone. While she was there, she saw some small frogs for aquariums. She asked their fish guy if the frogs would work well with what we already had. He said yes, so she bought one of them as well as 3 of the neon tetra that were in the same display tank. They looked good and added a little life and color to our tank.

When we got back from the movies last night, there was a problem. All 4 of the newbies were gone. We thought they might be hiding in the castle or the plants. Nope. Then I saw it...half a tetra caught in one of the plants.

I blame this guy:

He's supposed to be peaceful, but he's the only one left who's grown enough to have pulled it off. This is the second time our pets have eaten each other. If we don't get this under control, we'll never be able to move on to furry animals or children.

What do Jeff Kent bobbleheads, Crystal Lewis's greatest hits cd, and a pair of Dutch wooden clogs have in common?

Our garage sale!

On Saturday, we went down to San Diego to do a garage sale at Cyndi's mom's house. If you advertise in the paper down there, you are guaranteed to get a big crowd coming up from Mexico looking for bargains.

We thought we were going to have to show the neighbors a little something something in the morning. Cyndi's mom lives at the end of a long cul-de-sac that curves around. Some of the neighbors at the top of the street found out that we had advertised our sale and put up signs, so they decided to pull all their stuff out in the driveway. That way everyone would just think that was the sale being advertised and not work their way down the street. We quickly made up a whole new set of signs and put them up on our cars one house down from the other garage sale and managed to draw most of the people down our way.

We ended up making about $160 and cleared out a bunch of junk. It rained on us most of the morning, but that didn't stop people from coming out. I'm guessing that since it was a change from all the extreme heat that people didn't really care if they got wet or not.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank our corporate sponsor, Miraclebeam, for providing boxes of light up sports gadgets, pins, and glowing cubes for us to sell. Know that your donation was much appreciated, and that many of your fine products will continue on supporting the fine people who run the Tijuana swap meets.
