Girls Night In!

On Friday night KJ, E-rock, TK, Tif and I all got together for an evening of fun. We decided to make mini individual pizza for dinner. Enjoyed some of KJ's delicious cupcakes, some drinks and of course healthy stuff like veggies.

Then we settled down in the living room for some boardgames. First up was Apples to Apples, KJ was the champion! Then we played some Scategories after 6 rounds KJ and I were tied so we played a 7th round which I won 10-8.

We had a great time hangin' together chatting and goofing off. Our self-portraits
Tif went a little camera happy

Slacker

Sorry for the lack in posting... We have been staying pretty busy.

Last Friday was Sibling Night. Bradley and Amy came over and we visited our newly opened 5 guys for some burgers and fries. Bradley saw Target in the same shopping center so we stopped by there to pick up a "toy". Before heading home a Golden Spoon stop was made. Once we got home game night commenced. Paul and I introduced them to Catan (Paul won). Then it was time for Bradley's new Trivial Pursuit game. It was past midnight so we hung out for a short while then Bradley and Amy headed for home.

Saturday Paul and I saw an early movie then I headed for SD and Paul went over to hang with Daryl and play Catan with a couple friends.

Sunday and Monday I spend in SD with my Mom (update to come) and Paul sadly had to go to work.

There is lots more to catch up on but now I must go teach PE.

Fooseball

Paul and I, Erin and the girls, Kjirsten, Sydney, Derrick and their son all converged on the Henning household this evening to watch the Chargers game. Hot dogs and steaks were BBQ'ed, a fruit bowl was snacked on, Erin and Kj brought some yummy desserts to share. At half time we decided to break out Catan as Paul and I received it from my mom for Christmas. I think we may have some new fans of Catan! Now to procure some of those expansion packs...

Everyone was suprised & excited to see SD pull out a win in OT! Go CHARGERS

Round 1...Fight!

This game is pretty addictive. Well, maybe it was just because I suck at games like this so I had to keep playing until I beat at least one level. It's Mortal Kombat with Bible characters. I finally beat Eve when I had Noah send in a herd of animals to trample her. I couldn't seem to get Jesus' special moves down....maybe someone else can.

WSOPC

Well, today is the big day. At 4:00 pm Brad, Christie, and I have our audition for the World Series of Pop Culture. As part of my training, I tried to memorize the entire box of questions from the Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture edition. I found that many questions on the show last season were taken word for word from the game. However, now the game is just taking up space, because I seriously doubt I'll be allowed to play it ever again with anyone who reads this blog.

According to someone who auditioned in New York, they have been taking 4 teams from each audition time to move onto the next round and it doesn't seem like it's entirely based on who knows the most. As Jules said in Pulp Fiction, "Personality goes a long way." We're not too creative as far as costumes go. Brad made up some shirts with a logo for us which is cool. One of the New York teams showed up wearing puffy shirts from Seinfeld. It's tough since you can't use any image or phrase that is copyrighted.

Anywho, wish us luck. The grand prize is $250,000 for the team so winning this thing would mean the end of all our student loans and a chance to actually move up a bit in life!

Unpossible

Amy and I tried to put together one of those puzzles that is made up of a bunch of little pictures. It is of Tigger and we thought it would be cool to do. However after two attempts we gave up. We only got a little more than what is showing in this picture completed before giving up. Then it was decided we would play Rummikub. 3 times Paul won. I still want a rematch. Once Bradley got home we played Scene It a pop culture game which Bradley won, but between Paul and Bradley it was a close race. Amy was not far behind them either. I sadly suck mud at this game. I try, and when other people have questions I know them but when it is my turn I draw blanks even on things I know.
All in all we had fun and that is whats important

New Years Eve

We spent New Years Eve with the Family. Amy wanted a rematch of Scum so five of us broke out the cards and began the challenge to obtain Presidency. Amy won this time!

Then it was time to join the adults and play two rounds of Contentintal the traditional card game for this evening. The first round Cyndi won and recieved a dollar from each player for her winnings. Dad then retired to the couch as we had a short break for ice cream or cookies if you so choose. Then it was time for round two, which Jean took. After the game it was just a few minutes into the new year so Amy and Cyndi tosted with some sparkling cider.

Bradley decided to see if Abby liked laser pointers as much as kitties do. She liked it more, Abby kept chasing it around everywhere and trying to bite it. You can't really see it in this picture but at the bottom directly in front of her nose is the red dot from the laser.

This was Mom's present from Paul W. last Christmas. Since it is the New Year and Chilly Willy will have to go back in his box till next year we decided to grab a quick photo opportunity.

I wish we could get through one holiday without these two not getting along and starting fights with each other.
Oh well, maybe next year.

Family Game Night

We headed up to the ALH this evening for a family game night. We started off the evening with Scategories. We finished in this order: Bradley, Mom, Cyndi, Paul, and Amy. I am not sure where Dad fits in... don't remember what his score was. It was Amy's first time ever playing and she did well considering. There is sure be a rematch! After that there was a brief intermission for some people to grab a bowl of ice cream and for Paul and Bradley to bust out some Trivial Pursuit knowledge. Then we played a game that everyone most of us had never laid eyes on before, Scum. Cyndi won and was El Presidente most of the evening. Only being dethroned by Paul once. Sadly Amy never made it up to middle class , surely next time her luck will change.

cookie decorating

A week or two before Christmas we all gather at Great Aunt Jeans house to decorate Christmas cookies. She always has them baked and homemade frosting whipped up. We get out all the little do-dads and sprinkles and spend the evening creating cute cookies.
There is always an intense concentration when one is creating such a beautiful thing.
We pause during the decorating to order pizza for dinner and then it is back to the cookies to finish them up. As the boys are studying for their pop culture challenge next month I brought along the Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture cards. We sat around the fire reading questions to one another. The boys boggled the mind of mom with all the strange things they have stuffed into their brains.

Paul found this game, and now I am hooked. I am always looking for ways to improve my typing speed. This one not only makes me type faster it gets my heart rate up because I am afraid of being shot at.
Click on this link and see how well you can do. I use the hard level and these were my scores from the first time I tried it. I wanted to do better than Paul, gotta love competition. :)
