Anyone else remember these guys?

New schedules....again.

Someday I would like to have a job with a set schedule so I can actually plan more than a few days ahead of time. As long as I have my current job that isn't going to happen. For the second time in the last 5 months my work location has changed and with that comes different hours. I have been at our main facility in the independent living program since late August. Now one of the other group homes has been having issues, so as of Sunday I was pulled over there to help out. I don't know for how long, but it's looking like it will be at least a few months.

For now, they have me working all evenings which doesn't leave much together time with Cyndi's morning teaching hours. We're trying to work things out though. I'm trying to force myself to wind down on the way home so I can go to bed as soon as I get home. That way we can both get up early and see each other for a few hours over a bowl of cereal before Cyndi goes to work. It's not ideal, but we've had worse back when Cyndi was working and going to school.

1 down 51 to go

We have now reached the end of week one in our 2007 fitness challenge. We are feeling pretty good and have enjoyed spending time together while walking around the track. Next week we're planning to kick it up a notch by adding in some jogging to the walking. Paul's hours will be changing yet again for at least a few months so we will have to re-adjust our routine. Cyndi has taken a long term position in South Whittier as a Kinder teacher until Febuary. The new positions will add some stress until we figure out what is expected of us we are hoping the walking will help combat some of that.

FYI

Tough Enough is now being updated daily, sometimes twice a day. Keep checking in for more details on our progress towards the 750 mile goal. Click Here.

My team for the MS Walk is now up to 3. I am hoping to reach my goal of 10 people. If you are interested all of the information is in the post titled Close to my Heart.

Thank you to Amy and Ang who have signed up to walk with me, and to Bethany and Ang who are purchasing a braclet. I really appreciate the support.

Alter Ego

Hum, maybe I'll have to start watching the show...

You scored as Kate. You're Kate! You're not really a bad person, you've just had some trouble with your past. You're a little secretive. Under all that, you really are a good person. You're ready to help even if it'll set you back a bit.

Who is your "Lost" alter ego?

New Years Eve

We spent New Years Eve with the Family. Amy wanted a rematch of Scum so five of us broke out the cards and began the challenge to obtain Presidency. Amy won this time!

Then it was time to join the adults and play two rounds of Contentintal the traditional card game for this evening. The first round Cyndi won and recieved a dollar from each player for her winnings. Dad then retired to the couch as we had a short break for ice cream or cookies if you so choose. Then it was time for round two, which Jean took. After the game it was just a few minutes into the new year so Amy and Cyndi tosted with some sparkling cider.

Bradley decided to see if Abby liked laser pointers as much as kitties do. She liked it more, Abby kept chasing it around everywhere and trying to bite it. You can't really see it in this picture but at the bottom directly in front of her nose is the red dot from the laser.

This was Mom's present from Paul W. last Christmas. Since it is the New Year and Chilly Willy will have to go back in his box till next year we decided to grab a quick photo opportunity.

I wish we could get through one holiday without these two not getting along and starting fights with each other.
Oh well, maybe next year.

Happy New Year

(sorry, I forgot to post this on Christmas, and now I have missed New Years. I suppose better late than never?)

Healthy Start

Paul and I have discussed a few things that we want to accomplish this year. I am not so sure all of them are resolutions (things we want to change) but instead goals.

The one I want to share with you all is our Healthy Living Goal. We plan to walk 2 miles every day in 2007. This would give us a grand total of 728 miles this year. However, we are challenging ourselves to make it to 750. This does not include daily walking of to the car, or errands these are straight 2 miles either around a track, on the treadmill or hitting the pavement. On the side of our Hutchins Blog we will have a counter with the Goal and where each of us stand individually.

In addition I want to do some weight training or additional cardio 3 times a week. I am also trying to keep a food diary. Paul does extra at work every day with the crazy amount of stairs he is up and down for 8 hours. So... there you have it, hopefully you will all be seeing drastic changes in us.

Today Paul and I did our 2 miles at Biola's track.

Family Game Night

We headed up to the ALH this evening for a family game night. We started off the evening with Scategories. We finished in this order: Bradley, Mom, Cyndi, Paul, and Amy. I am not sure where Dad fits in... don't remember what his score was. It was Amy's first time ever playing and she did well considering. There is sure be a rematch! After that there was a brief intermission for some people to grab a bowl of ice cream and for Paul and Bradley to bust out some Trivial Pursuit knowledge. Then we played a game that everyone most of us had never laid eyes on before, Scum. Cyndi won and was El Presidente most of the evening. Only being dethroned by Paul once. Sadly Amy never made it up to middle class , surely next time her luck will change.

On Holiday

On the 22nd Paul and I headed down to San Diego for Christmas. On "Christmas morning" the 23rd we opened stockings and our gifts to each other. The kitty got some treats, Paul really likes his new Walk the Line shirt and DVD set.

We followed up with a late lunch/early dinner at the Roadhouse Bar & Grill. I love their bread and yams! The steak is always good as well. We spent the rest of the day just hanging out. We watched Elf in the evening as my mom had never seen it. One of my favorite lines is "Buddy the Elf whats your favorite color. I also like when he says Christmas is my favorite.

On the morning of the 24th we went to church at VGC...C. Beth and Rusell sang a beautiful song part of it in English and part in Spanish. I have never heard Beth speak Spanish let alone sing it so when she busted out with it I was suprised. It sounded amazing!

When church was over we went and said our hellos, helped get some of the stage put together that would be needed for the evening service and
I finally was able to introduce Paul to Tiffany Henning.

We had a quick lunch at San Diego Brewing Company (so we could watch some fooseball) and then it was time to head back up to L.A. my mom came with so that when Paul was supposed to work 12 hours on Christmas we would be able to spend the day together. Paul and I got all our stuff together and headed to the ALH.

The family had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner followed by some dessert, good conversation and the opening of gifts. It is always a great time to be with the family. But...

an evening with the Hutchins clan always ends with these two hitting each other.

New Element

On the side of our blog I have replaced the photo slide show with a scratcher. Pick up the coin on the screen and move the cursor back and forth over the area to reveal a photo. Every time you visit our page and scratch it will be a different photo from this past year. Holidays, events, trips, and activities. Enjoy!

I'll just let the video speak for itself...

FYI

I have updated cyndihutchins.blogspot.com with many new posts. Be sure to check it out. It also got a makeover for the upcoming year. I will be concentrating on not letting my workout journal die as well. So within the next two or three days you can expect updates on it as well. That journal is called ToughEnough. Both of these blogs have links on the right hand side of the page under Ohana which means family.

cookie decorating

A week or two before Christmas we all gather at Great Aunt Jeans house to decorate Christmas cookies. She always has them baked and homemade frosting whipped up. We get out all the little do-dads and sprinkles and spend the evening creating cute cookies.
There is always an intense concentration when one is creating such a beautiful thing.
We pause during the decorating to order pizza for dinner and then it is back to the cookies to finish them up. As the boys are studying for their pop culture challenge next month I brought along the Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture cards. We sat around the fire reading questions to one another. The boys boggled the mind of mom with all the strange things they have stuffed into their brains.

As we are now using the new blogger there are a lot more options and choices now, please bear with us as I am excited about playing around with some of the features. :)

You Are a Practical Gift Giver

Your gifts are useful, appropriate, and custom tailored to each person.
In your opinion, the best gifts are gifts that someone will actually use.
Your gifts may not be the most glamourous, but they are always appreciated.
