CanDo!

MS Walk San Diego

For A Good Cause

The MS Walk 2009 is only a few days away and every year I load up cans and bottles to add to the donations of all my wonderful friends and family. By the way it is not too late to donate ( I know $ is tight for everyone but even donating the cost of a latte would add up!) or JOIN US for the walk. The last 2 years we were able to raise over $1000 I hope we can repeat that this year as well.

It is really special this year that TK will be with me for the walk as I began doing this walk the year her daddy was diagnosed. It was the only way I could think of to "help" since I felt I needed to do something.

So...yesterday afternoon I packed up ALL of the recyclables and loaded up the entire back of the 4runner. Headed over to Ralph's parking lot and began to sort them all out. This is before I turned in all the glass bottles, total we made $40.

Dual

I have signed up for my 3rd annual MS Walk. It is going to be a little different this year as I will run the one in San Diego and hopefully have a team together to do the Irvine MS Walk. The reason for this switch is the SD one is the day before Easter and it would be difficult for anyone who would join my team to go all the way to SD and then have to turn around and head home for Easter Sunday. I would love for any friends to join me at one or the other, or even both if you are up for it.
To sign up for either day go HERE.

Walking for Keith

On April 26th Morgan, Amy, Mom and I took to the streets of San Diego in our 2nd annual MS Walk. This year we were called Team CanDo! With the support of many friends and family we were able to raise $1, 150! It was a beautiful day down in Pt. Loma and we had a great time showing our support of those suffering with MS.

MS Walk 2008 is only 1 month away

Thank you to everyone who has joined the team or donated so far this year. We were able to raise just over $1,000 last year and I am hoping to repeat that again. Anyone who is in the San Diego or LA area I would love for you to join us in the walk! It costs nothing to come out for a great day in support of raising awareness for this disease and help find a cure.

If you don't know why or need a reminder as to why I am doing this you can click HERE. The photo on the bottom of this post is of Keith Ulrich who was diagnosed with MS about a year and a half ago. Keith is an incredible man and has a deep faith. Even when first diagnosed he never asked why me, instead he thought why not me?

When I found out about Keith's diagnosis I had the urge to fix it and knew that I couldn't so instead I did the only thing I could think of which was to raise money and awareness for this disease. This will be my second year heading up a team for MS walk San Diego. If you would like to join the team this year please visit the site HERE. Or if you cannot make it to the event you can click HERE to donate. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions or comments.

I am also currently accepting donations for a garage sale to be held in SD at my mom's. I will pick up and take anything that will fit in the 4runner. The garage sale will be either the first or second weekend in April. So even if you have nothing to donate pencil in on your calendar to come over and say hello. :)

MS Walk 2007

It all began around 6am. I woke up and proceeded to wake up everyone else in the house. We all got ready and headed out to get some muffins for breakfast. Then it was on to downtown SD. There were no problems finding the place or with parking. The four of us found the check-in and t-shirt booths fairly quickly. After we were all set up we walked around to some booths, hung out and talked.

When 8:30 rolled around the walk with me and 5,000 of my closest friends got started. They claimed it was a three mile walk, I say it was about 2 and a half. Anyway. It was overcast which was nice.

We made some stops along the way to take some photo opps. of each other and the scenery.

After the walk the 5 of us headed over to Souplantation for some brunch/lunch.

It was amazing to see all of the people out in support of this cause. Our team has until the end of May to raise funds but to date we reached our goal and surpassed it with $1,155. Thank you everyone, for all of your hard work and support over the last few months. You will never know how much I truly appreciate it.

Success

Cyndi is wearing a Five Iron Frenzy shirt under a beautiful purple spaghetti strap dress with an orange raincoat and a purple wrap.
Amy is sporting an amazing gold shirt with size 19 shorts over her jeans and has accessorized by using a shell necklace
and some floral high heels.
I forgot to take photos during the garage sale...
this is a photo after we were finished.
Once the sale was complete on Saturday my mom, Amy, Paul and I went and got some lunch. Then everyone (but me) crashed, even the kitty. I stayed awake to get some of my work done.

The profit from Saturday and Sunday was a whopping $187.02 That is pretty darn good since we didn't sell any big ticket items. A lot of clothes, shoes, CD's and videos sold in addition to a lot of smaller items.

Date Set

We will be having the garage sale to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society on April 21st and 22nd. I will be accepting any and all items you may want to get rid of to sell for this event anytime between now and then. Please shoot me an e-mail (BUsoftball16 at MSN.com) or call if you have items you would like me to pick up from your residence. I hope that many of you can make it to the sale on either day to see if there is a treasure you just have to have. Please help me make this a successful event and thank you for your continue support.

Half Way There

The MS walk is now a month away. I would still love it for more people to join our team, as most of our members are virtual walkers which means they are supporting the team but cannot be there to physcially walk. There is some room at my Mom's house if anyone wants to sign up and come down on Saturday and spend the day in SD before the walk on Sunday. If you would like to join our team as a walker or virtual walker visit this website.
Then click on the link that says Join Our Team.

We have made it to the half way point for donations. Thank you everyone who has helped support me and this cause. To donate to me online visit this link. If you would like to support another walker on the team simply click the My Team Page link and then click on the name of the person you wish to support. Thank you again, love to you all.

This is why we walk

These are the faces of MS. Support me in finding a cure.

MS walk, Join me!

Keep It Up

I am setting up a at my mom's for either the 2nd or 3rd weekend in April. I will be collecting items that anyone would like to donate (as long as it will fit in my 4runner) the money collected will be added to our team for the MS walk. Our goal is to raise $1,000.00 for this important cause, we have a little over $400 raised so far.

Thank you to those who have donated cans and bottles or purchased braclets and MS bears (Amy, Jeric, Mom, my neighbors at the Apollo Apts, Morgan, Trisha, Moe, Beth, S.Whittier SD)
please keep it up! Thank you to those who have donated online
(Bill and Marie Dougherty, Grandma and Grandpa Goedhart, Paul and Cindy Goedhart, Mark and Betty Hutchins)

Please continue supporting me, my team and this cause in any way you can through donations (recyclables, items for the garage sale, online donations), prayer, being a workout buddy, or joining the MS walk. I greatly appreciate it and I know that we can make a difference in the lives of those who are living with MS.
Thanks again for all your hard work.

For a good cause

I earned quite a nice bit of change when I took in our bottles and cans today, it got me thinking I would like to put all the bottles and cans from now on towards supporting my team in the MS walk. I am asking you kind people if you drink water, soda, beer or anything else that is in a bottle or can to donate them to us. You can bring them by my apartment, I can come pick them up at your home. If you live in San Diego you can take them to my moms, or when I am down there for a weekend I can come by and pick them up. I am trying to raise money in anyway I can for the MS walk. It is near to my heart to do anything I can to help.
