Slacker

Sorry for the lack in posting... We have been staying pretty busy.

Last Friday was Sibling Night. Bradley and Amy came over and we visited our newly opened 5 guys for some burgers and fries. Bradley saw Target in the same shopping center so we stopped by there to pick up a "toy". Before heading home a Golden Spoon stop was made. Once we got home game night commenced. Paul and I introduced them to Catan (Paul won). Then it was time for Bradley's new Trivial Pursuit game. It was past midnight so we hung out for a short while then Bradley and Amy headed for home.

Saturday Paul and I saw an early movie then I headed for SD and Paul went over to hang with Daryl and play Catan with a couple friends.

Sunday and Monday I spend in SD with my Mom (update to come) and Paul sadly had to go to work.

There is lots more to catch up on but now I must go teach PE.

I called it

This afternoon we headed up to "the bra" as Paul and Bradley call it to watch the super bowl. I got some work done while others napped and read the paper and magazines. Finally it was 3pm and time for the football festivities to begin. There was much football watching and at half time Paul and Bradley had the Wii Play tournament.

We were also treated to some grilled burger, chips and dip along with brownies for dessert. I have said since I knew who was going to the super bowl that New England was going to lose. I am glad that it was a close game it kept it much more exciting. Paul was very close to winning some cash money from a squares game. But in the end when NY scored their final goal it was Bradley who ended up winning about $250.

I am sad fooseball is over but excited because that means that baseball is just around the corner. Yippy!

Crack

Bradley was disappointed when I did not show up with a snack/desert that I usually bring to the Christmas Eve festivities. So I said that on New Years Eve I would bring some... so tonight I headed out to pick up the ingredients and readyed my kitchen. A half hour later we have two batches of Crack. I made it with rice Chex this year, usually I use corn Chex so we will see how it turned out.

quick errands turn into 3 hours

It all started when I needed to make a few more copies of the Christmas letter. Then I found myself driving to store after store to finish up the shopping for the season. I feel as if we haven't gotten anything done even though we got almost all of our shopping done the day after Thanksgiving. The problem is we didn't get anything done for the outtatowners! OY. I need to recheck the list but I think I only have one thing left to do for the whole shopping thing. Then hopefully I can get everything in the mail... it may be a bit late this year. I apologize in advance!

Hockey Night!

Tonight I went to the Kings/Ducks game in Anaheim thanks to Brad.  He got some more of his VIP tickets through work so I went with him and a couple of his friends.  I don't usually get a chance to sit in a seat valued at $83 so of course I took him up on the offer.

I wore my Kings jersey so we were rooting for the Kings tonight.  Honestly I just like going to hockey games, so I don't have a favorite between the Kings and Ducks.  I find myself at Kings games more often though so I may have to go LA if I pick a team.  I'm sure Jeric will have some influence on that too.

The Kings and Ducks really don't like each other.  The Ducks reminded them of that fact early and often and there were numerous fights and cheap shots taken.  The Ducks scored two quick goals in the first period, although the Kings were able to tie it before all was said and done.  No one scored in overtime.  As soon as the final second of the clock ticked by in overtime, the Ducks starting attacking the Kings.  Guess there wasn't any reason to hold back at that point.  I got to see a shootout for the first time which the Ducks ended up winning.  I guess it helps to have a good, experienced goalie.

Bazaar

On Saturday, we went to help out at a fundraiser for my parents church. It was the 53rd and final Bazzar festival. It's only been at this church for about 10 years since another congregation merged with ours and brought the festival with them. It's the biggest fundraiser they have, but it takes a ton of work and the congregation is getting old and unable to manage all the physical labor involved.

I got there at 9am and was put to work chopping steak, chicken, and onions for the carne asada taco booth that I do with Bradley and Ruel. Ruel made a cool table grill with a wok welded into it to help the meat cook faster. We kept busy all day and were glad it wasn't nearly as hot as it was last year. Cyndi came a little later after attending a job fair, and once again helped my mom and Amy with the baked goods booth. Both booths ended up doubling what we made last year, and it looks like the church will make about $10,000 above last year's total. It was hard work and long hours. Bradley ended up being there from 5am to 7:30pm when we finished cleanup.

In the second set of pictures above, you can see Amy chatting, my grandpa doing portraits, and me and Bradley grilling. Good times.
